August 1855, when I was appointed Assistant Superintendent of Police and General Interpreter on a Salary of £2,500 per annum, with quarters in the Central Police Station.

By the 1st July 1857, I was appointed acting Superintendent of Police, which Office I held until the 10th January 1858, when I was appointed Collector and Assessor of Police and Lighting Rates, Salary of £350 per annum, which office I have still the honour to fill upon the same Salary.

My services under the Government of this Colony have thus extended over an uninterrupted and trust period of eighteen years, during which I have performed the varied duties of the several offices I had the honour to fill with diligence and fidelity.

In conclusion, I beg to state that I am prepared to pay up the Superannuation subscription for which I am liable under the Pension Ordinance, and I have to beg that His Excellency will be pleased to lay this, my application for a pension, before Her Majesty's Secretary of State for the Colonies, backed by a recommendation of His Excellency in its favour.

I have, &c.,

(Signed) A. Brand DREWLAY.
